Indian Delight

I was introduced to this cocktail at a private party a few years back. My wife thought it was the cocktail to end all cocktails, and managed to squeeze the recipe out of the bartenders, who had created it themselves. Since that day I have been making the cocktail for tons of friends (and enemies). The usual reaction is – Wow…

The mix of alcohol and the use of Cilantro (Coriander) and ginger gives it a fresh and unique character. It almost tastes healthy – in a good way.

Goes like this:

2 cl vodka

2 cl saké

2 cl Cointreau

A small bush of Cilantro (7-10 leaves)

2 slices of Ginger (about 2-3 mm thick)

2 slices of lime

2 cl sour (Juice from 1/2 lemon mixed with powdered sugar)

2 cl simple syrup (recipe:  2 parts water and 1 part sugar)

Sometimes when I am a little more laid back, I replace sour and simple syrup with 2 teaspoons of cane sugar – It works to 🙂

Then what?

– Put the cilantro, ginger and lime in the shaker and mash them with a muddler for 20-30 seconds

– Add sour and simple syrup (or replace with cane sugar) continue to muddle for 10 seconds

– Add vodka, sake, Cointreau and shake it like you mean it (a lot so the sugar dissolves)

– Use a strainer to get rid of all the bits and peaces
